A quick visual reference tool for lineages
This tool shows what’s unique about a lineage at a glance, applies scoring methods to highlight key mutations, and provides a way to easily compare emerging lineages with established ones.
As SARS-CoV-2 evolves, systems to identify and label new lineages are becoming even more complicated than the problems they solve.
This viewer is intended as a more useful starting point for research efforts. Rather than managing the messiness of the classification system, users can immediately start seeing, interacting with and making sense of the data in the pursuit of deeper analysis.
Lineage Portraits is part of Banyan, a broader suite of software developed by Fathom Information Design in coordination with the Sabeti Lab at the Broad Institute of Harvard and MIT.
